Friday afternoon, several cars pulled into the neighboring driveway as relatives arrived for a family gathering. Among them was a large, energetic dog that jumped out of an SUV the moment the door opened. The children laughed as it raced around the yard without a leash. Linda smiled at first because she assumed the owners would quickly settle the dog down.

While watering her flowers, Linda noticed the dog sprint across the shared lawn and leap into one of her flower beds. The visiting relatives packed their vehicles and left Sunday evening. Linda’s neighbors walked over afterward, unaware of everything that had happened while they had been hosting guests.
