Woman Says Her Neighbor Keeps Putting Yard Waste Bags on Her Property, Then Acts Surprised Every Time She Mentions It
A homeowner says what started as a small annoyance has turned into an ongoing source of frustration—and now she’s wondering if it’s really an accident at all.
According to a post shared online, the situation involves a shared front path between two semi-detached homes. While the walkway runs between both properties, each side clearly belongs to each homeowner. In her case, she uses the left side, while her neighbor—who she refers to as “Frank”—uses the right.
At least, that’s how it’s supposed to work.
She says that for months now, her neighbor has been placing his garden waste bags not just near the dividing line—but fully on her side of the path, sometimes as much as half a metre into her space.
“At first I didn’t think much of it,” she explained. “But it kept happening. Not once or twice—every time he puts out garden waste.”
The placement hasn’t just been a minor inconvenience. She says the bags are often positioned directly in the path leading to her front door, forcing her to step around them just to get in and out of her home.
On one occasion, a delivery driver reportedly left a package on top of one of the bags instead of bringing it to her door because the walkway was partially blocked.
More concerning, she says her elderly mother nearly tripped over one of the bags during a recent visit.
“I’ve had to move them multiple times just to make the path usable,” she added.
After the issue kept repeating, she decided to speak to her neighbor directly.
The first time, she says he apologized and claimed he hadn’t noticed where the bags were placed. He moved them without issue.
The second time, however, the response changed slightly.
“He looked at where they were and said, ‘They’re right on the line though, aren’t they?’” she recalled. “But they weren’t. They were clearly on my side.”
Again, he moved them.
By the third conversation, she says her neighbor claimed he couldn’t tell where the boundary line was. That’s when she physically walked him out to the path and pointed out the visible join in the paving that marks the property divide.
“He said he’d try to be more careful,” she said.
But just days later, the bags were back—once again sitting squarely on her side of the path.
At that point, she began documenting the issue. She says she has now taken photos on five separate occasions showing the same pattern.
“I genuinely can’t tell if this is carelessness or something more deliberate,” she wrote. “But it’s happening too consistently to feel accidental anymore.”
The situation has sparked a wave of reactions online, with many people suggesting that repeated behavior like this often isn’t as innocent as it seems.
Others pointed out that when shared spaces are involved—especially between neighbors—small boundary issues can quickly escalate if they’re not respected.
For this homeowner, the biggest frustration isn’t just the inconvenience—it’s the repeated conversations that don’t seem to lead anywhere.
“It’s the fact that I’ve explained it multiple times, shown him exactly where the line is, and it still keeps happening,” she said.
Now, she’s left wondering whether she’s dealing with simple forgetfulness—or a neighbor who knows exactly what he’s doing.
And for many readers, that question might be the most frustrating part of all.
